As CEO and owner of Gerrbik Laundry Services, Nicole Stewart takes a very hands-on role, starting work at 4 am each day to supervise staff and ensure customers receive serviced items on time, every time.
Ms Stewart has worked with the company for 30 years, contributing to its development as a large-scale commercial laundry before taking over as owner and CEO. In 2011 accepted the national ‘Indigenous in Business’ award.
As a proud Taunurung woman, Ms. Stewart tries to give back to others who have had a tough start, providing employment opportunities to women who have escaped from domestic violence or who are seeking a fresh start after a prison sentence. Staff are both Indigenous and non-Indigenous, and tightly supervised to ensure the business continues to thrive – reflecting the values of integrity, service and respect that the business has been built on.
